Rock and Roll is not dead and Stone Mecca is the smoking gun that proves it without a shadow of a doubt. Stone is a True Artist through and through. And not just any artist, he is all out Funk Rock Royalty, and oozes ultra cool style. The guitar is his puppet. The guitar is his air. The guitar is his canvas. With a DaVinci type creative daring, he paints music into the atmosphere. His original sound is akin to psychedelic soul Space Odyssey. Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana Stone spent his formative years perfecting his chops in the rock clubs of Los Angeles before relocating to Dallas. After the move he quickly began to soak up and meld with the vibrant DFW music scene. His music is a goodie bag of rock, blues, R&B and all things in-between as he pays homage to the greats while charging boldly into the future.
“I call my music psychedelic funk rock, classic rock and the black music we started a long time ago. Music affected me as a small child and it’s always good to be acknowledged for what we do, and be brought into this whole thing.”
Oh no indeed, Rock and Roll is not dead and Stone Mecca is a clear indication that it is not going anywhere.
Deep Ellum performances include: Three Links, Trees and Wits End.

"Gritty, imprecise, and unapologetic AF the electric vibes of this L.A.-based artist and his old school cool are lustfully intoxicating." - AFROPUNK
The career of music producer, musician and artist Stone Mecca has gone through several evolutionary changes. He began his career in hip hop, doing studio work with the likes of Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. Then in 2007, he built a 9 piece soul/funk band and toured the world with RZA aka Bobby Digital to support his debut album, First Contact. Stone Mecca's songs "The Walk" and "Oh" were featured on Spike TV's animated show, Afro Samurai, as well as the television show's soundtrack produced by RZA. Now, as a solo artist, Stone Mecca combines his love of hard-hitting hip hop beats and funk-driven bass lines with grinding guitar riffs and soulful melodies. His latest album, Alienman, is a masterful blend of roots rock, blues and funk.
