Memory Shivers is one of Dallas’ premiere surf, shoe gaze, psychedelic rock band. A project started several years ago by Hi-Fi Drowning singer and guitarist Eric Martin. If there was a contest Eric Martin could easily win the critics choice award for both originality and creativity. The bands ability to dominate the stage is a sight to behold as you witness a type of magic unfold. This band lives up to every aspect of the name casting you into a fiery furnace of Rock and Roll artistry. The musicianship is breathtaking and cool, with the ghost like tone of Martins guitar etched into your mind’s eye for a lifetime. This amazing group features an all-star cast of prominent Dallas musicians including Guyton Sanders, and Tom Macaulay of The Happy Bullets, Poppy Xander of Helium Queens and Polyphonic Spree, and Marshall Read of Macavity. The Memory Shivers are sonic perfection, with no musical detail left unattended. The groups striking use of video and light projections set them apart from the crowd. They are an uncaged lion watching and waiting, and you are left with no doubt after what you have witnessed that they are all things Rock and Roll. Memory Shivers is one of the most important bands to come out of Dallas in a long time, and they add immeasurable heft to the “Sounds of Deep Ellum” live album project.
“I think that music both influences our culture, and as songwriters, I think that we respond to what culture is doing. Music is communal in nature and there’s something about it that really brings people together. I’m glad to be playing live again.”
